Today is a big day for our team!
After 6 years in our team as a PhD Student and now a fully fledged PhD, our good friend Stephen McInturff is leaving the Lee/Brown Lab and Mass Eye and Ear. Stephen was a pillar of our team as he oversaw almost all our current projects and was the figurehead that every new face in the lab would go to for advice. Stephen acquired an extensive expertise in various fields (Electrophysiology, Audition, Computer Science and Engineering, to cite a few) and would always be happy to share his knowledge with EPL. He also invested himself a lot in the Harvard SHBT and the Hearing-Impared ARO programs as well as the different EPL social events. We will miss him and his Boston trivias so very much! Dr. McInturff will join the Stankovic lab in Stanford (CA) after a well deserve family vacation. We can’t wait to reconnect with him at the next conferences!
Another departure from our lab is Afash Haleem who finished his year with us. Afash joined the lab during the summer of 2021 as a Research Assistant during his gap year before med school and helped our team in numerous ways. He involved himself in our clinical projects and we all benefited from his knowledge of database curation and analysis. Last but not least, he also revived and revamped our website to advertise our team’s work. Big thank you for your willingness and positive energy, we hope that you will join us again in the future! We thank you for your work and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
Thank you Stephen and thank you Afash.
